New Justyn Ross Arrest Details Released in Court Document

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was arrested on October 23 and was ultimately charged with one count of criminal damage of less than $1,000 and domestic battery with no priors. A new report on Friday provided more details regarding the circumstances of Ross's arrest.

According to a court document obtained by The Kansas City Star and reported by Robert A. Cronkleton and Jesse Newell, Ross "allegedly admitted to officers he got upset after finding out his girlfriend was cheating on him and started throwing her belongings out the door of a Shawnee apartment."

According to the affidavit obtained by The Star, the victim told officers that Ross "began yelling, 'got in her face' and told her to get her stuff out of the apartment." She also told officers that Ross allegedly scratched her Mercedes with scissors causing damage determined to be under $1,000. Ross admitted to breaking a laptop that he told officers he owned and denied breaking items owned by the victim, which she alleged included the computer, a cellphone, jewelry, and her Mercedes key.

The Star reported that Ross told officers he became upset when he found out that the victim was cheating on him.

"Justyn said, 'I just found it, started putting her stuff out, throwing her stuff out the door,'" the affidavit read.

Ross's grandmother told officers Ross discovered that his girlfriend was cheating on him and pushed her out of the way, according to the affidavit, via The Star. Cronkleton and Newell's report notes that a Shawnee Police Department offense report says that the alleged victim suffered minor injuries, but no specific injuries were included.

Ross pled not guilty to his charges on October 24 and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 4.

On October 25, Ross practiced with the team and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the team was "taking in all the information" regarding Ross's arrest while he continued to practice. On October 27, the NFL placed Ross on the Commissioner's Exempt List, meaning he cannot practice with the team or attend games until the league comes to a further decision.
