The New Orleans Saints have been a creature of habit over the years. This offseason, they've broken some habits with a new coaching staff and some new roster pieces. Regardless, they are planning to treat one part of their offseason in a similar way to years past when it comes to practice.

Saints to hold joint practices with Chargers

According to Nick Underhill, the Saints are expected to conduct joint practices with the Los Angeles Chargers once again.

The Saints and Chargers are expected to conduct joint practices in Los Angeles ahead of their preseason game, according to sources.

New Orleans will face the Chargers to open their preseason action on August 10th at 3:05 CT. The Saints will travel to SoFi Stadium for that matchup. New Orleans does not play the Chargers during the regular season.

For the Saints, they are no stranger to prepping in Los Angeles. The Saints held joint practices with the Chargers in 2023. The two squads faced off in the preseason that year as well.

New Orleans was also scheduled to hold joint practice outings in California in 2024. Unfortunately, the San Francisco 49ers cancelled those workouts with New Orleans due to an abundance of injuries.

Often, joint practices can serve as a simulation of the preseason game, or perhaps better, given the number of reps that starters receive against the opposing team's starters.

The Saints are used to making the trip out west late in the summer in order to get some useful reps in against players who won't dawn the black and gold. It sounds like that trend will continue in 2025 with these practices alongside Jim Harbaugh's Chargers.
