New Panthers HC Frank Reich hoping for 'stability at quarterback'

New Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich is tired of a revolving door of quarterbacks, and fortunately for him he might be in a position to finally have that end.

While speaking at his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Reich talked about wanting to finally have some stability at the quarterback position after coming from a situation in Indianapolis where he had to deal with a new starter pretty much every year. 

His new team is also coming off of a 2022 season where it had to use three different starters over the course of the year. 

"You got to have stability at quarterback," Reich said on Tuesday via NFL.com. 

"So, we, Mr. (David) Tepper, Scott (Fitterer), and myself, have to commit to what's our blueprint? How are we going to maintain stability at quarterback? Make a plan and then execute that plan."

It makes sense that he is screaming for stability at the position because he has literally never had the same starting quarterback two years in a row as a head coach.

In his five seasons as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts he had to use five different starters, going from Andrew Luck (2018) to Jacoby Brissett (2019) to Phillip Rivers (2020) to Carson Wentz (2021) to Matt Ryan (2022). 

His sixth year as a head coach will feature a sixth different full-time starter in Carolina. 

The good news is that he could be in a position to draft somebody that could be his long-term answer in April's draft. 

The Panthers have the No. 9 overall pick in this year's draft, which could give them the option to move up to get the player they want or hope somebody is available at their spot. There are four quarterbacks projected to go in the first round this year, including Alabama's Bryce Young, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, Kentucky's Will Levis and Florida's Anthony Richardson. 

Richardson is probably the player most likely to be available at their spot. 

Richardson does not have a ton of experience as a starter, but he has all of the tools and talent to make him a very intriguing prospect. 

Carolina passed on the opportunity take a quarterback in the first round a year ago when no slam dunk choice was available, but they might not be able to pass that opportunity this year.
