More top 100 player lists are being released, following CBS Sports' massive one by Pete Prisco, which included 10 Philadelphia Eagles. This latest one was not as kind to some of the Eagles.
FanSided's NFL Spin Zone writer, Lou Scataglia, shared his top 100 players in the NFL list. On the list were eight Eagles players, all of whom were also on CBS Sports' top 100.
Two players who were included on CBS Sports' list were not included in Scataglia's. One of them is borderline, but one will have fans in an uproar over the disrespect: Cooper DeJean and Jalen Hurts.
Starting with the one who is 50-50 on being included, DeJean has received a ton of love over the offseason, as his performance in the postseason, particularly the pick-six off of Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, has helped solidify his status as one of the league's best cornerbacks. DeJean was ranked 85th on Prisco's list.
He does argue with being on the list, though, as his coverage skills proved to be elite in just his rookie season. DeJean allowed a completion percentage of 66.2%, which is a bit high, but his passer rating allowed was 80.1. He kept his receivers to 8.3 yards per reception, which helped him be fourth in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.,
It wasn't a perfect rookie season for DeJean, but he improved throughout the season as he got more playing time and has now solidified himself as one of the best in the NFL. It's a shame he didn't make the top 100, but it's not as egregious as Hurts being left off.
Scataglia made it clear he doesn't even though Hurts is a top 10 quarterback, as 10 quarterbacks were ranked ahead of him. Guys like Bo Nix, Jordan Love, and Justin Herbert were on the list over him.
Hurts didn't reach 3,000 yards passing last year, but he did complete over 68% of his passes and had a passer rating of over 103 (both are career highs). Among quarterbacks with at least 10 or more starts, Hurts' passer rating was ranked fifth in the NFL last year.
He's also one of the best mobile quarterbacks in the NFL, even if everyone wants to say the Tush Push helps him out. Hurts still ran for 630 yards and averaged 4.2 yards per carry with 14 touchdowns.
This has been an offseason trend with Hurts getting disrespected despite having two Pro Bowl selections, one All-Pro selection, two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl win, and a Super Bowl MVP on the resume. But no media, continue to say he's overrated.
It just adds to the nightmare fuel that will come for opponents in 2025.
