New Video Shows Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Wanted to Embarrass Chiefs in Super Bowl

Most would agree the lopsided 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans one month ago was a humbling experience for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Many picked KC to cruise past the Eagles and become the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champions, and the Eagles seemingly relished playing-up the underdog role heading into the game.

But Philadelphia dominated from the opening whistle, running up a 24-0 halftime lead that ballooned to 34-0 near the end of the third quarter and reached 40-6 into the fourth before head coach Nick Sirianni pulled his starters.

That decision apparently didn’t sit right with quarterback Jalen Hurts, and a new video emerged on social media showing a mic’d up Hurts venting some frustration after Sirianni had informed him that backup QB Kenny Pickett and the rest of the Eagles second-stringers would finish out the game.

“Hey, hey, are you sure?” Hurts asked Sirianni. “We’re done?”

“Yeah, I’m [expletive] sure,” Sirianni responded before a dejected Hurts walked back to the bench.

Hurts expressed his disagreement with Sirianni’s decision to running back Saquon Barkley and receiver DeVonta Smith, who also seemingly wanted to stay in the game and run up the score.

“We’re up 40-something points, bro, come on,” Barkley pointed out.

“Kick the [expletives] when they’re down, huh? Kick ‘em when they down,” Smith quipped, getting another rise out of Hurts, who responded “That’s what I’m saying though.”

The Chiefs tacked on two fourth-quarter scores with DeAndre Hopkins and Xavier Worthy logging touchdown receptions against the Eagles backups, making the final score seem much closer than it actually was, which presumably didn’t sit right with the 26-year-old QB.

Hurts was named super Bowl MVP for his performance after totaling 221 yards passing, 72 yards rushing and three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing).
