The Kansas City Chiefs got their 13th win of the 2024 NFL season on Sunday afternoon over the Cleveland Browns, but a late injury to quarterback Patrick Mahomes dampened the the celebrations.

With a 21-7 lead, and the game well in hand, Mahomes got hit hard in the pocket on a pass and crumpled to the ground under a few players, suffering what appears to be a right ankle injury. Mahomes was able to limp off of the field with help from some of this teammates, but he did not return to the game.

While we wait for more information about how serious the injury is, videos of Mahomes walking off the field after the game are starting to circulate on social media. One video shows Cleveland quarterback Jameis Winston run across the field to say a few works to Mahomes, who was walking off with a heavy limp.

Neither quarterback ended up finishing the game, as Winson was pulled late for backup Dorian Thompson-Robinson, while Carson Wentz came in for the injured Mahomes.

The Chiefs are in line to get the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs this year after blitzing out to a 13-1 record, but depending on the injury status for Mahomes, it could all be for not. As the undisputed best quarterback in the game, the Chiefs need Mahomes to go on and try to win their third straight Super Bowl later this season.

Until we get more clarification, everyone will be waiting with baited breath to hear an update on Mahomes.
