The New York Giants entered Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers in desperate need of a win to turn around their 2025 season.
After starting 0-3 with quarterback Russell Wilson under center, head coach Brian Daboll made the call to bench Wilson in favor of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. In his first start with the team, Dart had the offense rolling as the Giants took a 10-3 lead over the undefeated Chargers.
Things took a disastrous turn with just over six minutes left to go in the first half, though, as Dart attempted to find star wide receiver Malik Nabers streaking down the sideline. The former LSU star wide receiver jumped up for the ball, but his right knee appeared to buckle as he planted.
He went airborne, but appeared to be in immediate distress.
The initial video from the CBS broadcast shows Nabers scream out in pain before being tended to by trainers all while holding his right leg. Nabers eventually threw off his helmet before being carted off the field.

As Nabers left the field on the cart, he tossed a hand up to the crowd to show he heard their support before throwing a towel over his head in anguish.

The Giants have not announced an official word on Nabers, though it appears unlikely he'll be able to return to Sunday's game. Despite leaving the game with six minutes to go in the second quarter, Nabers remains the team's leading receiver on the day after hauling in two receptions for 20 yards.
Five other Giants players have caught a pass from Dart, who is 7-of-11 for 71 yards with 44 yards and a touchdown on the ground in his first start.
