New York Giants GM Makes Intriguing Josh Allen Comment About Jaxson Dart: ‘We’ve been through this’

Before he became the New York Giants’ general manager, Joe Schoen was part of the Buffalo Bills’ front office that scored a big win in the 2018 NFL draft by taking former Wyoming Cowboys quarterback Josh Allen in the first round of that year’s NFL draft.

Fast forward to today, Schoen and the Giants selected a first-round QB of their down, with Jaxson Dart selected 25th overall in the 2025 NFL draft.

Schoen recently talked about the Bills’ experience in Allen’s rookie NFL season as compared to his outlook with Dart.

“We’ve been through this, we went through it with Josh Allen,” Schoen said in a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, (h/t Kevin Patra of NFL.com).

“We had a little bit different quarterback room at the time, but he was going to sit his rookie year and then halftime of the opening game we’re getting smoked by Baltimore, so we put him in and the rest was history. So that plan didn’t go as well, but we didn’t have a Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston in the room. So again, Jaxson’s going to come in, he’s got to learn the offense, there’s a lot to learn, these NFL offenses are hard to grasp and pick up and then be able to go out and execute, so the ability for him to learn and sit behind two consummate pros already will be beneficial for him.”

Dart has a lot to learn behind New York Giants veteran QBs

As mentioned by Schoen, the Giants have Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the fold, acquiring the two veteran signal-callers in the offseason.

But neither is seen as a long-time QB1 for New York. Dart could potentially be that genuine franchise quarterback the Giants have been looking for ever since Eli Manning retired from football.

In his final season with the Ole Miss Rebels, Dart threw for 4,279 passing yards and 29 touchdowns with only six interceptions on a 69.3 percent completion rate.
