Heading into Week 3 NFL action, the New York Giants hold an 0-2 record. After coming up short in heartbreaking fashion last week against the Dallas Cowboys, the team is hoping to get back on track with a big win on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While all eyes are focused on the field for the Giants, the NFL trade deadline will also be interesting to watch.

One name to keep an eye on connected to New York is pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. He has been rumored to be a potential trade candidates since the Giants selected Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Thibodeaux would be of interest to quite a few teams around the NFL. He’s a capable No. 1 pass rusher and he’s still young. There will likely be quite a few teams calling New York trying to acquire him.

With that being said, a couple of teams have popped up as potential trade suitors for the Giants.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has named two intriguing teams who could trade for Thibodeau. He thinks both the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be worth watching.

“Trading Thibodeaux to a contender this year could give New York the sort of draft capital that would be extremely valuable for a new, rebuilding front office,” Knox wrote.

At 24 years old, Thibodeaux is truly just getting started in the NFL. Through his first three years and two games to begin his career, he has been impressive on the field.

In the 45 total games he has played with New York, Thibodeaux has racked up 134 total tackles to go along with 22.5 sacks, 49 quarterback hits, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, a defensive touchdown, and 11 defended passes. Those numbers show the kind of impact he’s capable of making.

It is possible the Giants could opt to keep him past the deadline. They might like the three-headed monster of Thibodeaux, Carter, and Brian Burns. However, moving him now and getting draft capital would also help them towards furthering their rebuild.

Expect to continue hearing rumors and rumblings about Thibodeaux’s future. Keep an eye on the Lions and Buccaneers as possible trade partners if New York does openly place him on the trade block.
