New York Giants have several key storylines to follow throughout OTAs and Minicamp in May and June
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants should look quite a bit different in 2024 than they did last season. New first round wide receiver. The return of Daniel Jones. Massive free agent acquisitions on both sides of the ball. But which storylines are most intriguing as OTAs and Mandatory Minicamp stretch through May and June?

Based on what we've learned through one week of OTAs there are going to be several key storylines to continue following as things progress for this year's new look New York Giants. Let's dive in.

How is Daniel Jones looking early?

Daniel Jones continues to look better and better each day. He's still reportedly on pace to be fully cleared by the season, if not by training camp. And even though he may not be fully cleared for contact, his footwork certainly looks like it's trending towards getting back to normal already. You can see him throwing passes after pivoting in the post below.

Daniel Jones needs to be ready by training camp if he wants to bounce back in a big way this season. After throwing just two touchdowns to six interceptions and taking 30 sacks in the six games he appeared in last season this year is make-or-break for him.

What cornerbacks are stepping up?

Deonte Banks is the truth. That much was already clear last season. However, outside of him, the cornerback room looked rather rough and inexperienced coming into the 2024 NFL Draft. But Cor'Dale Flott is already emerging. And so is rookie Andru Phillips. Flott seems confident that he and Banks can be one of the best duos out there.

Andru Phillips likely immediately sees some nickel and slot action, but can definitely line up outside too. If the team continues to see strong development from Banks, Phillips, and Flott, plus potentially undrafted free agent Alexon Johnson, the Giants may end up having one of the best dime package cornerback groups in the league.

Is the new offensive line looking good?

General manager Joe Schoen added a couple strong offensive line free agents in Jermaine Eluemunor and Jon Runyan. Those two should seal the interior of the offensive line. Plus Aaron Stinnie was signed for depth inside too.

Will the improved interior actually help Evan Neal take the next step in his development on the outside too? The chemistry and communication along the offensive line will be a key detail to track as the team speeds things up a bit down the stretch here in OTAs and Mandatory Minicamp.
