The New York Giants have plenty of pressure on them in 2025. Head coach Brian Daboll survived another year, but many feel he is on the hot seat. While players will downplay the pressure, it is impossible not to be affected by it. There was some frustration during Thursday’s Organized Team Activities practice, which ended in an on-field brawl between four players.
Giants practice ends with a rumble. Brian Burns and James Hudson with some pushing and shoving. They’re pulled off field.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported the full details of what happened. New York Giants star defensive end Brian Burns and offensive lineman James Hudson got into a pushing match and had to be escorted off the field. The very next play, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jermaine Elluemunor escalated the already tense situation. Thibodeaux reportedly ripped off his teammate’s helmet and threw a punch. Hudson then rushed back onto the field to tackle Thibodeaux, and Burns followed to get involved.
While OTAs are not padded practices, players do wear their helmets, and for many players, turning off the physicality is difficult. This isn’t what you want to see if you are a New York Giants fan. Sure, fights happen all the time during training camp. Players take offense at something, and emotions run high. However, fans would like to see a team that is not wasting time fighting each other.
If this shows one thing, it is that the New York Giants will not go down without a fight in 2025. The key to their season is the defense. Last year, this unit was a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. Their defensive line limited the run and was able to make things uncomfortable for opposing quarterbacks. The biggest obstacle for the Giants will be their own division. Philadelphia and Washington were the last two teams alive in the NFC last season, and Dallas still has plenty of talent to be dangerous.
Everything comes down to the quarterback play. The combination of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and the myriad of other players the team threw out onto the field couldn’t get it done. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston will hopefully bring a veteran presence with Jaxon Dart learning on the sidelines.
Fights during the offseason among teammates aren’t the look your team wants. However, this probably isn’t as big of a deal as many media outlets will make it out to be. These players care about winning and want to show that the New York Giants aren’t going to be a penciled-in win for the 2025 season.
