New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Set for Monday Night Football Redemption in Week 1

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New York Jets will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the NFL season. This will also be the first Monday Night Football matchup of the season. With the Jets taking the national stage out of the gate, it has to be assumed that the NFL is expecting Rodgers to be ready to go by the time the regular season starts.

Biggest Headlines

There are plenty of headlines on both sides of this matchup. The Jets and 49ers are looking for redemption in the 2024 NFL season for completely different reasons.

For the Jets, this is an all too familiar setting. Fans and players alike remember the last time the Jets opened the season on Monday Night Football all too well. Last year, Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on this stage. As a result, he was ruled out for the entire season after playing just four snaps for the Jets. If this was not enough, DE Leonard Floyd, the player who ended Rodgers’ season, is now on the 49ers.

As for the 49ers, they came about as close as you can get to winning a Super Bowl without managing to do so. They lost a heartbreaking game in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs and watched them capture Super Bowl LVIII. It is also the second time in five years that the 49ers blew a double-digit lead in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs.

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is starting to look clearer as the days go on. At the time of writing, there have been four games revealed that are taking place in Week 1. Here is a list of the other games confirmed:
