The New York Jets have begun training camp before the 2025 NFL season kicks off. With the departure of Aaron Rodgers after last season, another quarterback steps in for the New York Jets. Justin Fields signed a two-year contract worth up to $40 million during the offseason. Fields is listed as the New York Jets’ starting signal caller in 2025.

However,  Jets quarterback Justin Fields’ status with the team was uncertain as he was carted off the field during practice with an apparent lower leg injury. X-rays were taken to determine the severity of the injury that Fields sustained.

New York Jets QB Justin Field Leaves Practice With Toe Injury

According to Adam Schefter, Jets quarterback Justin Fields was taken to the locker room on a cart at the New York Jets’ practice facility this morning. Being that the injury looked to be around the lower leg, the coaching staff found a sense of relief as the injury was said to be a toe injury, according to Jordan Schultz. New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn stated that Fields should be good to go throughout the rest of training camp.

The Jets did have a backup in Tyrod Taylor, just in case the injury was more severe. Fortunately for Fields, his teammates, and the coaching staff, they will have their starting quarterback to begin the 2025 regular season as long as he remains and stays healthy.

New York Jets Offense

The New York Jets’ offense will look different in 2025. It is said to be a run-pass scheme under head coach Aaron Glenn this season. In 2024, former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not have much to work with in the passing game as Garrett Wilson was his top target until Davante Adams joined the team late in the year.

Wilson signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $130 million. He has gone over 1,000 yards receiving since being drafted back in 2022. The veteran wideout caught 101 passes for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. That passing connection could be valuable to the team once again, and Allen Lazard is another veteran who will be catching the ball on offense as well.

Final Thoughts

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields is playing for a third time since he was drafted in 2021 by the Chicago Bears. Fields threw for 1.106 yards with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. If he can lead the Jets’ offense and have a big year throwing to his receivers, the upcoming 2025 season could be interesting for NFL fans to see and watch around the world, as long as the veteran quarterback can stay away from further injuries.
