New York Jets Reportedly Aren’t Done After Blockbuster Trade With Tennessee Titans

The New York Jets made a rare player-for-player trade Thursday morning with the Tennessee Titans. The AFC East franchise sent Pro Bowl pass rusher Jermaine Johnson to the Titans in exchange for defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat.

Johnson will play under Robert Saleh, his head coach for the first three seasons of his NFL career. After a tumultuous 2025 season, the Jets entered the 2026 offseason with plenty of questions to answer. Johnson played 14 games last campaign, recording three sacks, five tackles for loss and six QB hits.

As for Sweat, he posted 34 tackle, two sacks and one pass defended in 2025. The Jets had a strong start to the Combine, and this might be the prelude to another big move.

According to insider Connor Hughes of SNY, the Johnson move doesn’t mean the Jets are blowing it up. However, they are listening to other teams at the Combine.

“The #Jets are not having a fire sale, but Jermaine Johnson isn’t the only player available. Was told from multiple sources, who had conversations with New York here in Indianapolis, that they are open to dealing & listening,” Hughes wrote.

The trade also revealed what position they will focus on during the upcoming NFL draft. General manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn are seemingly working hard to put together a competitive team.
