NFC East predictions are in (and Eagles fans aren't going to like it)

2024 will go down in history as one of the best seasons in Philadelphia Eagles history after capturing their second Super Bowl title. Still, the honeymoon phase seems to be wearing off.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley already made the bold claim that the team was one of the top five best teams in NFL history. The season included a 14-3 finish, an NFC East division title, and producing three of their four postseason games with at least two possession wins.

The magic of that Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs may not be there in 2025, according to FanSided writer Lou Scataglia .

Eagles are in for a disappointing 2025 season

In his latest article, Scataglia shared his predictions for who will win each division in the NFL. The Eagles were not selected for the NFC East, as the Washington Commanders are expected to dethrone Philadelphia.

"A Super Bowl hangover could hit the Philadelphia Eagles hard enough that they stumble a bit and end up in a Wild Card seed in the NFC, paving the way for the Washington Commanders to win the NFC East. This team won 14 total games in 2025 with a rookie QB, so their ceiling is insanely high."

The tricky part about this prediction is that the NFC East has been notorious for having a different division winner each season. Philadelphia was the last team to repeat as division champions between 2001 and 2004. Since then, another team has won the division since.

Last season, the Eagles won the series against the Commanders after the two teams played each other three times. It was split going into the NFC Championship game, but a 30+ point win over Washington cemented the Eagles' taking the 2024-2025 series.

The media's concern with Philadelphia this offseason is the number of key players out and playing for other teams. Here are the key names the Eagles lost to free agency, the team let go of, or a player's retirement:

  • Milton Williams
  • Josh Sweat
  • Brandon Graham
  • C.J. Gardner-Johnson
  • Darius Slay
  • James Bradberry
  • Mekhi Becton
  • Oren Burks
  • Avonte Maddox
  • Isaiah Rodgers
  • Kenneth Gainwell

Philadelphia's list is long, and that's okay for the team. The Eagles' offseason focus is on giving their younger players either more playing time or starting jobs to see what they have in them. It's been a part of their strategy all offseason.

Washington can have the division title if they want, but it's about winning the Super Bowl, and that is the only focus for the Eagles.
