49ers

49ers LB Fred Warner, HC Kyle Shanahan, and TE George Kittle commented on the team’s first loss of the season to the Falcons on Sunday.

“Unfortunately, we’re not going undefeated this year. It’s not just about winning. I’ve said we have to continue to get better as a team. I feel like today we didn’t get better. We took a step back,” Warner said, via ESPN.

“Anytime you have four turnovers like that and you get zero, it’s real tough to win. I don’t know about the amount of penalties, but the timing of some penalties, just keeping them on the field, giving them some big plays, especially when we have them behind the chains, just illegal contacts or holdings, whatever they called. But too sloppy to win,” Shanahan told reporters.

“We kind of just stuck our foot in the mouth multiple times in that game,” Kittle remarked. “Losing is never great, but when you do lose, I think especially in this organization, it makes everybody really just look at yourself in the mirror. It’s definitely going to sour our entire bye week, and I think that’s good because I think when we get back next week, I think our guys are going to be incredibly focused. Would I rather win? Absolutely. Way more fun. But hey, like I said, it could be worse. We didn’t have a bunch of guys get injured today. I think we made it out pretty healthy. And we got guys coming back, so I’m excited about that.”

Rams

The preseason Super Bowl favorite Rams entered Week 7 at 2-4 following last week’s upset loss to the Cardinals. That made the matchup against the Raiders a borderline must-win affair, and the Rams performed like it. They dominated Las Vegas, going up 28-6 at the half and finishing out a 35-21 win.

“It was really paying attention to details, the finer things, the little things, seeing how we can’t beat ourselves,” Rams RB Blake Corum said via Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. “And from there, it’s just putting our head down and working. And we had a great week of practice, man. And I think we showed that today.”

One encouraging aspect for the Rams was how they were able to lean on the ground game behind Corum and RB Kyren Williams, especially to salt things away in the second half when the Raiders made a run. They’ll need that dynamic with their pass catchers so banged up.

“I mean, there’s resilience there,” Corum added. “That’s how you respond to situations that you get into that happen out of your control. And so we responded as an offense, and I think it’s great for the O-line. They’re there on the sideline: ‘We want to run the ball!’ K-Dot [guard Kevin Dotson], ‘I want to run the ball.’ That’s them just wanting to break the D-line’s will. They knew what we were doing up front. They had a heck of a day.”

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald said the “early returns are positive” regarding WR Rashid Shaheed‘s knee injury, and mentioned they are still waiting on imaging results for OT Charles Cross‘ ankle. (Brady Henderson)
  • Macdonald noted they are designating RB Jadarian Price to return, but wouldn’t give anything about his Week 8 status. He also said they’re sticking with the plan for RB Zach Charbonnet, but wouldn’t say if he’ll play either. (Henderson)
