NFC South team named as potential trade destination for Bears QB Justin Fields

Expect the Atlanta Falcons to kick the tires on Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields if the team attempts to replace him this offseason.

The Bears have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and could move on from the 24-year-old. Per Tankathon, they will select Southern Cal's Caleb Williams. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo noted Fields will have an "active trade market," and teams like the Falcons may be interested in acquiring him.

The Falcons desperately need an answer at the most important position. Desmond Ridder started for the majority of the season and struggled. In 15 games, he completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 12 TDs, 12 interceptions and a below-average 40 QBR.

Atlanta has the eighth overall pick in the draft, but the top prospects at quarterback will likely be off the board by then. Tankathon projects the first three picks will be QBs.

Fields has yet to establish himself as a franchise cornerstone, but he would be an upgrade. In 13 games, he accounted for 20 TDs (16 passing TDs and four rushing TDs) and ran for 657 yards.

He also could flourish with better weapons. Atlanta has dynamic playmakers, including running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts.

The Falcons trading for Fields seems like a solid idea. The former first-round pick has shown flashes and might need a change of scenery to unlock his potential. Atlanta needs a spark to reverse its fortunes. The Falcons haven't made the playoffs since 2017 and have posted six straight losing seasons.
