NFC Team Dealt Season-Ending Injury News After Back-to-Back Losses

Following Sunday's slate of games, there are still numerous NFL teams looking to secure their first win of the season. This includes first-year head coach Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears, who are currently 0-2.

Chicago narrowly suffered defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, but their loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday was a completely different story as they suffered a 52-21 blowout.

As if starting the season 0-2 was not bad enough for the Bears, they were dealt even more bad news on Monday that does not bode well for them the rest of the way.

The Bears Will Likely Be Without Star Defender for the Rest of the Season

The Bears are still winless to begin the 2025 NFL season, and unfortunately for them, things are going to get worse before they get better.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bears will likely be without star cornerback Jaylon Johnson (groin) for the rest of the season as his injury will require surgery.

"Sources: #Bears All-Pro CB Jaylon Johnson is likely to miss the rest of the regular season with a groin injury that will require surgery. I’m told there is an outside chance he could return late if Chicago is in contention, but for now it’s a devastating loss for the Bears’ defense, Schultz wrote on X.

Furthermore, Schultz noted exactly how big a loss this is for Chicago as Johnson, who is fresh off his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection, is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

"Jaylon Johnson is as good as it gets when it comes to cover corners in the NFL. The #Bears regularly have him shadow the opponent’s top wide receiver. His loss is a massive blow to Dennis Allen’s defense, and it comes during what has already been a rough start to the year," Schultz wrote on X.

The California native missed the Bears' Week 1 loss due to a groin injury he suffered during training camp, but he was cleared to return against Detroit. Unfortunately for him and the team, he re-aggravated his injury in the second quarter and did not return to the game.

Johnson, who was a second-team All-Pro selection in 2023, has been one of Chicago's biggest bright spots in recent years, and his absence will be felt by the team. In his place, the Bears will rely more heavily on players like Nahshon Wright, Tyrique Stevenson, and Jaylon Jones.

The Bears will have their next opportunity to right the ship in Week 3, when they host the Dallas Cowboys.
