NFL analyst drops bold prediction on what Shedeur Sanders is about to do with the Cleveland Browns in 2025

The Cleveland Browns are heading into a pivotal season in 2025 after finishing just 3–15 last year—a big drop-off just one season removed from making the playoffs.

Cleveland’s most pressing issue remains the quarterback position, with four healthy quarterbacks vying for spots on the depth chart. Deshaun Watson is still recovering from an Achilles injury and the surgery required to repair it, making it entirely possible that he won’t take the field at all in 2025.

The Browns signaled a shift in direction by selecting two rookie quarterbacks in the draft, a strong indicator they’re preparing to move on from Watson—even if he remains on the roster. A bold prediction published here at A to Z Sports by Destin Adams and Kyle Crabbs, suggests one of those rookies could take the reins in his first season.

Shedeur Sanders predicted to start most games for Cleveland in 2025

One particularly bold prediction: fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders will start more games in 2025 than any other quarterback on the Browns’ roster. That would be an impressive feat for a Day 3 rookie.

“I think he has more upside than Gabriel and is worth betting on as a potential long-term starter, whereas I see Gabriel as a career backup,” said Destin Adams. “Secondly, I think the Browns are going to struggle this season, no matter who is under center, and Sanders will sell tickets and get fans excited, win or lose. Veteran Joe Flacco seems like the favorite to be the Day 1 starter, but I don’t think it’ll be long before the fan base begins banging the table to see Sanders inserted into the lineup.”

Veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett provide experience in the quarterback room and are likely the leading candidates to open the season under center. However, as Adams points out, the fanbase is likely to start clamoring for the rookies if things go south early.

Sanders brings a combination of toughness and accuracy that will appeal to head coach Kevin Stefanski. However, the Colorado product must improve his pocket awareness and cut down on sacks if he hopes to have staying power in the league.

Growing pains are expected for any rookie, but if Sanders ends up starting the most games for the Browns in 2025, it likely means he’s showing promise while leading the offense. The son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders will have a chance to climb the depth chart when training camp begins in July.
