GLENDALE – Arizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort is coming off his best piece of work in the NFL this offseason. In his 20-year career, Ossenfort has been a part of great organizations that have taught him how winning franchises are run. The 47-year-old has been a part of four Super Bowl winning team’s front office and has taken that experience to the Valley. In 2025, Ossenfort has spent the big money to improve the roster heading into next season for Arizona.

However, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport wrote about how Ossenfort might be on the hot seat. Entering his third year with the Cardinals, they have failed to have a winning season, making Davenport skeptical. The NFL analyst has Ossenfort’s hot seat at a 7/10.

Davenport on Cardinals’ Ossenfort:

“2025 is just Ossenfort’s third season as the general manager in Arizona, but he has two decades of experience in NFL front offices spread across five organizations. Unfortunately, to date at least that experience hasn’t equated to success in the desert—the Cardinals are 10 games under .500 the past two years.”

Davenport has a short lease amongst Cardinals top brass with Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon, noting that both could be fired if the team fails to make the playoffs next season. The expectations are high, but isn’t that what Arizona has been working towards?

The Cardinals have made the playoffs once since 2016, with many years of loitering in mediocrity. There are expectations and hope surrounding a franchise that hasn’t experienced much in the past decade. The sentiment that Ossenfort could be on the hot seat might be a little harsh, but it is a sign that the franchise is moving in the right direction in its rebuild.
