If there's one thing everybody in the NFL knows and recognizes, it's that the Baltimore Ravens have one of the best, if not the best, rosters in the league. From top to bottom, their roster is loaded with talent. Not only are they strong with their starters, but their bench also has tremendous talent. The depth in itself is a testament to general manager Eric DeCosta and the team's front office.
Many analysts in the league also feel the same way about the Ravens. Case in point, NFL.com's Eric Edholm sees their roster as the second-best in the NFL, only one spot behind the defending Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles. He thinks the Ravens have one of the most complete teams in the NFL in his latest top-10 and more complete than the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Washington Commanders. Edholm says:
"The Ravens have remained remarkably consistent and successful under head coach John Harbaugh, with GM Eric DeCosta carrying on the team-building prowess of the vintage years under Ozzie Newsome. Few franchises draft as well as the Ravens do, and though they seldom spend wildly in free agency, their hit rate is strong. That’s how they’ve built -- and maintained -- a first-class roster."
"Lamar Jackson is in his prime and remains the centerpiece for a terrific offense that found another gear at times last season with the addition of Derrick Henry. They feature multiple playmakers at both wide receiver and tight end. Baltimore’s offensive line might not boast the talent or depth it once did, but it appears to be solid."
"The defense took a step backward last season before hitting its stride down the stretch. It wouldn’t be stunning if the D was even more consistent this season with decent luck, injury-wise, and help from rookies Malaki Starks and Mike Green. Kyle Hamilton is the star of the defense, but the talent is well distributed, even if there are some questions about who’ll earn the major pass-rush roles."
The one question mark he does bring up is the kicker position. Tyler Loop, Baltimore's 2025 6th-round draft pick, will take over for Justin Tucker after Baltimore decided to release Tucker after his tumultuous offseason. Loop has a tall task ahead of him, but Baltimore has been prepared for this ever since it became apparent that Tucker would not be in their plans.
As far as the rest of the roster, Baltimore has a top-flight offense that possesses the ultimate quarterback-running back duo and a defense that should be better than it was at the beginning of last season. The talent is right there for the Ravens to make a run at a championship.
