NFL analyst makes a compelling argument for the Panthers making the playoffs in 2024 season

Nearly everyone isn't thinking too highly of the 2024 Carolina Panthers

Why would they? With a new head coach, an unproven quarterback and a slew of additions to the different positions, the Panthers are far from a guaranteed playoff lock.

Most are placing the Panthers in the five or six-win range. However, one NFL analyst is bucking that trend. During a recent guest appearance on The Herd, NFL analyst Adam Chernoff gave a thought-out reason why he isn't counting out the 2024 Panthers yet.

"I think they're a fringe NFC Wild Card team," he said. "... To me, this looks a lot like the Jags in 2021 and 2022 you have (Trevor) Lawrence coming in at QB and was in a very bad coaching staff situation. Expectations came way down after year one, year two...there's the playoff run. I think the Panthers, in a weak division in the South, set up very similarly. I think it's a great coaching staff and an organization that's going to compete for that spot of a Wild Card in the NFC."

It is a compelling argument. And it is one that I find myself agreeing with.

The Panthers added to the offensive line by picking up Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis. Dan Morgan, Carolina's general manager, also picked up Xavier Legette, who is a real No. 1 option in terms of talent. Then there is Diontae Johnson, who was promised by new head coach Dave Canales that he would be the go-to option as soon as the season started.

Carolina is far from a perfect team. However, the situation is more favorable than unfavorable. Young has a coach looking to maximize his skillset and the weapons to make life easier.

A fringe wild card team feels right when looking at the highest ceiling for the 2024 Panthers.
