There are some really good head coaches in the NFL going into the 2025 season.
Some have climbed to the top of the mountain and won a Super Bowl while others are still searching for their first title.
NBC Sports NFL writer Patrick Daugherty ranked the ten best coaches in the NFL going into the season and it should come as no surprise that Andy Reid is in the top spot. Reid has won three Super Bowls as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs and will go down as one of the greatest head coaches ever.
Sean McVay comes in at second and is also a brilliant coach. He helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI during the 2021 season and has taken them to the playoffs six times.
John Harbaugh is the third coach on the list and has made the playoffs 12 times since taking over the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. He helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII during the 2012 season.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni round out the top five. Shanahan has taken the 49ers to two Super Bowls but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in both of them.
Sirianni has also taken the Eagles to two Super Bowls but won Super Bowl LIX back in February.
Jim Harbaugh, Dan Campbell, Mike Tomlin, Sean McDermott, and Matt LaFleur round out the top 10. Harbaugh just wrapped up his first season with the Los Angeles Chargers and got them back to the playoffs before losing to the Houston Texans.
Campbell led the Lions to the top seed in the NFC this past season until they ran into Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs. Despite losing to the Commanders, Campell has changed the culture of the Lions and will have them back contending in 2025.
Tomlin has been the head coach of the Steelers since 2007 and helped them win Super Bowl XLIII during the 2008 season. He has made the playoffs 12 times and has never had a losing season.
McDermott led the Buffalo Bills to the AFC Championship Game during the 2024 season before losing to the Chiefs. LaFleur has only been the head coach of the Green Bay Packers for six seasons but has taken them to the playoffs five times.
We'll see if the list looks different next year once the 2025 season finishes up.
