Travis Kelce has lost some ground among the NFL's elite entering the 2025 season.
CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco released his annual top-100 player rankings on Tuesday. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end narrowly salvaged a spot, but he dropped considerably from last year's No. 18.
Kelce ranks No. 96 overall, fifth among tight ends behind Brock Bowers (No. 22), George Kittle (25), Trey McBride (42), and Sam LaPorta (86). His longtime teammate, Patrick Mahomes, tops the list for the second straight season.
Although he still piled up catches in his 12th season, Kelce tallied his fewest receiving yards (823) and touchdowns (three) since breaking into the Kansas City lineup in 2014.
"Age started to look like it was impacting Kelce's play last season as he didn't look to be the same player," Prisco wrote. "There were moments, but the consistency wasn't there. He had 97 catches, but he averaged just 8.5 per catch, the lowest of his career, which is not a good sign for a 35-year-old."
Kelce appeared to turn the dial to playoff mode when amassing 117 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City's second-round win over the Houston Texans. However, he settled for 19 yards -- his lowest tally in 25 career postseason games -- in an AFC Championship Game win over the Buffalo Bills and 39 yards in a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Retirement speculation magnified after the Chiefs fell short of a threepeat, but Kelce is returning for at least one more season. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the 10-time Pro Bowler, who turns 36 in October, has lost 25 pounds this offseason.
"This could be his final year," Fowler said on SportsCenter. "He's in the last year of his contract. He's in his mid-30s. Certainly a Hall-of-Fame career, and he wants to potentially end it on the highest note possible."
Kelce could take on a diminished role in Kansas City's offense if Xavier Worthy and a returning Rashee Rice take leaps in 2025. Yet he's the team's only pass-catcher in Prisco's top 100, which also includes center Creed Humphrey (16), pass-rusher Chris Jones (18), cornerback Trent McDuffie (46), and guard Trey Smith (75).
