Baltimore Ravens fans are well-aware that, as good as Lamar Jackson has been during his NFL career, there's been one glaring issue. That issue is that Jackson hasn't been able to lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl since he took over as the starter in the 2018 season (and full-time in 2019).
It's painful to think about the dominant Ravens teams that Jackson has been on and how none of them have been able to get over the hump. Not only has Baltimore failed to win a Super Bowl since Jackson became its starting quarterback but the Ravens have failed to get there altogether.
NFL analyst Dave Dameshek didn't hold back on Jackson when listing him as one of his three quarterbacks with the most to prove in 2025. While he did pay compliments to Jackson, he called the Ravens signal-caller a disappointment.
"[Jackson] probably could retire tomorrow and still wind up in the Hall of Fame. The problem is that for all of his deeds in the regular season and some special moments in the postseason, he, like so many other AFC quarterbacks who are going to wind up in the Hall of Fame, has not even gotten to a Super Bowl. Kind of is a disappointment, but it's going to be even more disappointing if that guy doesn't get a gold jacket; let alone never even getting to the Super Bowl?"
While Ravens fans have Jackson's back, it's hard to argue against what Dameshek said. Jackson is a two-time MVP quarterback but the postseason success (or lack thereof) is hard to ignore at this point. Whenever the playoffs come around, Ravens fans know it's going to be a slog of stories about how Jackson hasn't proven he can win those big games yet.
What's working in Jackson's favor here is that, aside from Joe Burrow, no AFC quarterback has been able to reach the Super Bowl because Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are always there. Jackson's only squared off against KC once in the playoffs since becoming the starter and, well -- We know how that one went.
So while Jackson hasn't reached a Super Bowl yet, neither has Josh Allen. Burrow went once but lost. Had both of those guys been to one (or even won one), maybe the pressure would be on for Jackson even more but he's not going anywhere. The Ravens would be foolish to kick him to the curb for not doing something other quarterbacks have struggled to do as well.
That being said, hopefully this is the year Jackson breaks that curse and finally helps get the Ravens to a Super Bowl.
