NFL analyst unsure whether Aaron Rodgers will be a 'top-graded' QB in 2024
Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are once again receiving Super Bowl hype ahead of the upcoming 2024 NFL season. After a brutal Achilles injury ended his 2023 campaign just four snaps in, Rodgers has worked hard to get back to full health for this season. He’s hoping to get the franchise back to the postseason.

In addition to Rodgers returning to the field, the Jets got aggressive during the offseason. Among their new additions are Mike Williams, Haason Reddick, and Javon Kinlaw. They spent big in order to get back into the playoffs.

While the offseason moves were nice, everything revolves around their superstar quarterback. As goes Aaron Rodgers, so will go the New York Jets.

Hopefully, he’s able to rise to the occasion and live up to the hype. However, some believe that he’s destined for a much lower season than the big expectations suggest.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Could Be Team’s Downfall In 2024

Pro Football Focus recently took a look at one reason why each AFC team won’t end up making the playoffs. When it came to the Jets, they believe that Rodgers will be the ultimate reason. His age and the injury from last year are the main reasons.

“In theory, everything is set up for the Jets to be successful in 2024 — and the NFL knows it, too, scheduling them for six primetime games in the opening 11 weeks of the season. Aaron Rodgers has just one season of earning a PFF grade below 77.0 while being on the field for more than 100 snaps. His 2023 season ended after just two dropbacks, though, and he is now 40 years old and coming off an Achilles injury. Perhaps we shouldn’t be entirely confident in Rodgers being one of the top-graded quarterbacks in football until we see him back on the field in the regular season.”

As many NFL fans know, Rodgers performs his best when he’s receiving criticism. When he gets a grudge or chip on his shoulder, he takes his frustration out on the field.

These are the kinds of storylines that the Jets should be hoping to see. Rodgers is being doubted by many and he has worked hard to get back on the field. He’ll bring a little extra to prove these doubters wrong.

ESPN has released their projections for Rodgers in 2024. They are expecting the superstar signal caller to rack up 3,835 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

While those numbers aren’t shabby, they certainly aren’t what Rodgers and the Jets would like to see. With the weapons they have surrounded him with, it seems very possible that Rodgers will outperform those projections by a considerable margin.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see how Rodgers and the Jets look this season. They’re loaded with talent, but it will all come down to how the 40-year-old quarterback bounces back from his injury.
