PFF analyst Trevor Sikkema is bullish on the defense of the Denver Broncos heading into the 2025 season. Here is what he had to say: “They would be my bet to be the best defense in the NFL.” Denver returned to the NFL Playoffs last season thanks largely to their stifling defense.

The unit was seventh in yards allowed per game, third-best against the run, and third in points allowed. The defense of the Denver Broncos also forced the eighth-most turnovers in 2024. After a great season, will the Denver Broncos defense be able to up the ante in 2025?

Denver Broncos Defensive Outlook

Denver had a busy offseason and focused on improving its defense during that time. They signed Linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Safety Talanoa Hufanga. These additions will play alongside reigning DPOY Pat Surtain II and Linebacker Nik Bonitto. He was third in the league last year with 13.5 sacks. Denver’s first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft was Texas Cornerback Jahdae Barron. The Broncos have leaned into their defense with these moves.

Final Thoughts

Denver finds itself in one of the best divisions in football. They will need their defense to be strong again to make it back-to-back trips to the postseason. The Denver Broncos defense has the potential to prove Sikkema right, but as all sports fans know, games are not contested on paper.
