Fans likely recall last offseason, when the Colts were linked to Justin Simmons during training camp, as he took visits around the league. Ultimately, he ended up signing with the Atlanta Falcons, where he started 16 games and recorded two interceptions, seven pass deflections, and 62 total tackles. He certainly could have helped the Colts last season when they needed some veteran leadership in the secondary to join Kenny Moore II.

This year, the Colts made multiple moves to improve their secondary in terms of talent, and also added two veterans, Ward and Bynum, who were well respected in their locker rooms as leaders. If the Colts were to sign a veteran to add to their secondary, I think they would look at a corner to solidify the second starting outside CB spot. Simmons and the Colts were a great fit on paper a year ago, now, while he would undoubtedly improve the unit, I think they like Nick Cross and want to see him continue to grow as a player.
