Riding a six-game winning streak, Davante Adams and the Los Angeles Rams (9-2) took to Charlotte on Sunday to take on the Carolina Panthers (6-6).
Adams, 32, is in the first year of a two-year deal worth $44 million after signing with the team in the offseason. Despite questions regarding whether he could sustain his All-Pro play, Adams has not missed a beat this season. He came into Sunday's Week 13 game with 48 catches for 631 yards and an NFL-leading 12 touchdown catches.
A touchdown total that he added a couple of more scores to in the first half on Sunday, hauling in three catches for 43 yards and two scores. Being that Adams has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL for his 12-year career, every touchdown catch he makes this year inches him up the list for most career receiving touchdowns.
With 12:46 remaining in the second quarter, Matthew Stafford hit Adams for a seven-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14. Not only did that help the Rams get back in the game, but as revealed by the NFL, it helped Adams surpass legendary tight end Antonio Gates to have sole possession of the seventh-most touchdowns in NFL history.
