NFL Announces Final Decision On International Games In 2025

The NFL has been steadily increasing the number of international games over the past two decades and 2025 is primed to be their biggest yet.

According to ProFootballTalk, the NFL has finalized seven regular season games to be played outside of the United States in 2025. Three games will be played in London, one will be played in Sao Paulo, one will be in Berlin, one in Madrid and one in Dublin.

While we still don't know the matchups that will take place there, we do know the seven designated home teams. The Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars will all host a game in London. Cleveland and New York will play home games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while the Jaguars will play at Wembley Stadium.

In Brazil, the Los Angeles Chargers will host a team on Friday night in Week 1 at Arena Corinthians.

Berlin's Olympiastadion will be the home venue of the Indianapolis Colts.

Spain's first-ever NFL game will see the Miami Dolphins as the home team at Santiago Bernabeau Stadium, the home of Real Madrid CF.

Lastly, Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland will serve as a Pittsburgh Steelers home game. Croke Park is the fourth-largest stadium in all of Europe.

Many NFL fans have been critical of the NFL International Series, decrying it as either stealing home games from home soil or simply making it harder to watch due to timezone differences.

But the NFL has almost reached total saturation in the United States to the point where it can't grow much larger among the 50 states.

With no more borders in the United States to cross, the only direction they can go now is overseas.

The NFL probably dreams of one day becoming an international sport with themselves as the gridiron-equivalent of FIFA.

This International Series may just be the tip of the spear.
