The 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame game will take place on July 31, and we finally got to see the two teams that will be playing in the game in a few months.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday that the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers would play in the NFL's annual preseason game. It will start at 8 p.m. ET on July 31.

It will be played at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium right by the Hall of Fame.

"This game features two teams that can be considered legitimate contenders to reach Super Bowl LX next February," Pro Football Hall of Fame President and CEO Jim Porter said in a statement. “For them to face each other right out of the gate in Canton, Ohio, should create a dynamic opening to another spectacular NFL season.”

The Lions and Chargers are expected to be playoff teams during the 2025 season. The Lions were the best team in the NFC during the 2024 season, winning 15 games and clinching the top seed in the conference heading into the playoffs.

However, their dream season was cut short when they lost to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Chargers got back to the playoffs in Jim Harbaugh's first season as head coach before losing to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round. They still have quarterback Justin Herbert in his prime and have playmakers on both sides of the ball, so they will be a tough out again in 2025.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame 2025 class will be enshrined in Canton on August 2.
