NFL Announces Punishment Decision After Chiefs Incident

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Jaden Hicks has been fined $6,707 by the NFL for his personal foul on Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones.

The NFL has issued its Week 2 accountability report, and it includes Hicks, who was called for a roughing-the-passer violation in the Chiefs’ Week 2 win over the Colts. The league classified his violation as a blow to the head/neck.

Hicks committed the foul at the 9:34 mark of the first quarter in the Chiefs’ 33-30 overtime win on Sept. 20. The Chiefs DB made contact with Jones’ helmet after the Colts QB released the pass. Jones completed the pass, finding Josh Downs on an 11-yard reception.

Hicks and the Chiefs were back in action on Sunday. They made it 3-0 after defeating the Miami Dolphins 24-10 at Hard Rock Stadium. This was Kansas City’s first road game of the season.

Hicks recorded seven tackles in the win. Meanwhile, quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 20-of-24 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Kenneth Walker scored a rushing and a receiving touchdown, while Travis Kelce scored his second TD of the season.

The Chiefs’ next game is on Oct. 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders. They will be back on the road as they look to keep their strong start to the new season going. Kickoff from Allegiant Stadium is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
