Javonte Williams and the Dallas Cowboys picked up a 44-22 Week 7 win over the Washington Commanders. The running back rushed the ball 19 times for 116 yards and one touchdown.
Through seven games, the Cowboys are 3-3-1 and are in second place in the NFC East behind the 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas' offense ranks first in total yards per game ( 390.6).
Williams has been a big reason for that success, racking up 592 rushing yards (second in the NFL) and six touchdowns on 111 attempts. He also has 23 receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown on 32 targets.
Despite having a strong performance against the Commanders, Williams still received bad news almost a week after the game. On Saturday, the NFL announced Williams received a $16,830 fine for unnecessary roughness, use of the helmet.
It came with 14 minutes, 50 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Williams ran for nine yards on the play before being tackled by Commanders safeties Jeremy Reaves and Quan Martin.
Williams is one of four Cowboys players who received some sort of punishment during Week 7. WR George Pickens (taunting, $11,593), C Brock Hoffman (taunting, $6,111) and S Donovan Wilson (use of helmet, $23,186) all received fines.
This is the first time Williams has been fined this season. However, according to Spotrac, it's the fourth fine of his career. The other three came with the Denver Broncos, totaling $70,647.
Williams and the Cowboys move on and look to build off their win over the Commanders. Up next is a Week 8 matchup against the running back's former team, the Broncos, on the road at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
