Key Points:

  • NFL fines Marlon Humphrey $11,593 for facemask penalty vs. Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy
  • Spotrac shows Humphrey has paid $143,746 in career fines across seven violations
  • Ravens' defense ranks 31st in yards and 32nd in points allowed through four games
  • Humphrey ruled out for Week 5 vs. Texans as Baltimore risks 1-4 start

Marlon Humphrey and the Baltimore Ravens have been far from perfect to start the 2025 season. They sit with a 1-3 record after a disappointing 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Humphrey, a four-time Pro Bowl cornerback, has struggled through the first four games. He's been targeted 23 times, allowing 15 receptions, 240 yards, one touchdown and a 114.4 passer rating. He has also yet to record an interception and has just one pass deflection.

The entire Ravens defense has performed as one of the worst in the NFL, ranking 31st in total yards per game allowed (406.8) and 32nd in points per game allowed (33.3).

However, having to deal with a loss isn't the only sour taste Humphrey has been left with after facing the Chiefs.

The NFL announced Humphrey has been fined $11,593 for unsportsmanlike roughness, tying it to a facemask penalty in the first quarter against wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The Chiefs would capitalize on the drive, scoring a field goal.

According to Spotrac, Humphrey has now been fined seven times since joining the NFL, paying a total of $143,746.

However, he wasn't the only player to receive a punishment from that matchup, as Kansas City wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was fined $7,903 for a low block in the second quarter.

Still, though, it adds to an already disappointing week for Humphrey, as he's already been ruled out for the Ravens' Week 5 game against the Houston Texans.

With the potential of a 1-4 start looming, Baltimore's playoff hopes may be lost not even halfway into the regular season. That would be a crushing development considering they were Super Bowl contenders entering the year.
