The Houston Texans (7-5) are getting ready for a huge road game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (6-6) on NBC's “Sunday Night Football" in Week 14.
On Saturday, Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins found out that his pockets would be a lot lighter when he makes the trip to Arrowhead Stadium.
Collins was named in the NFL's announcement of fines from Week 13, when the Texans picked up an important AFC South win against their rival, the Indianapolis Colts.
During the game, Collins had five receptions for 98 yards and a 7-yard rushing touchdown. Quarterback C.J. Stroud threw for 276 yards in his return from a concussion.
According to the NFL, Collins was fined $14,491 for a violent gesture after making a 29-yard catch with 8:35 remaining in the fourth quarter of the 20-16 win.
Below is the play in question, but the gesture happens just after the end of the clip (it can be seen clearly in this YouTube video). Collins held out his right hand, palm up and pointed two fingers forward while flexing his thumb like a gun trigger. No flag was thrown on the play.

Violent gestures have been a point of emphasis for the NFL and its officials during the 2025 season. In Week 13, Collins was one of five players fined for making a violent gesture.
He joined Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, Las Vegas Raiders ' Kyu Blu Kelly and Tampa Bay Buccaneers duo Baker Mayfield and Bucky Irving.

Throughout his career, Collins enjoyed making similar finger motions as a first down catch celebration. Before the NFL's crackdown on violent gestures began this year, he was asked if he would change his behavior.
"It is what it is, it's their decision," Collins said in September. "Can't be too aggressive with the thumbs. You've got to be smart when you get the ball, not make the refs call anything. They're going to be looking, itching to throw their flag, itching to fine you."
He was able to follow through on his words until the incident in the Colts game, which was the first time Collins has been fined this season. In the matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday night and beyond, he will have to make sure to maintain his discipline. Repeat offenses can come with increased fines.
On-field, safety-related decisions are released by the league on its gameday accountability page each week. Per NFL guidelines, players are notified of violations and may appeal any ruling. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation and the NFL Foundation.
The Texans-Chiefs game kicks off from Arrowhead Stadium at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
