Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers moved one step closer to a playoff berth with a 29-24 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 16.

Rodgers threw for 266 yards with a score and running back Jaylen Warren had 143 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.

Kenneth Gainwell also made a circus catch and had a touchdown in the win.

However, the story of the day was Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf getting into it with a Lions fan.

At the time, no penalty was called on Metcalf, although the expectation was that the league would fine or suspend him for the altercation.

On Monday, the league made a decision to suspend Metcalf, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

"The NFL is suspending Steelers WR DK Metcalf two games without pay for physically confronting a Lions fan during Sunday’s win at Detroit, per sources. Metcalf, who had reported the same fan to security last season, plans to appeal."

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network the posted the official statement from the NFL.

The NFL rules state that players may "not enter the stands or otherwise confront fans at any time on game day."

Metcalf finished the game with four catches for 42 yards on nine targets.

Metcalf can appeal the suspension, but if he doesn't win the appeal, he will miss the final two regular-season games for the Steelers.

The Steelers face the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, followed by the Baltimore Ravens in the regular-season finale.
