NFL coach gives Dolphins even more reasons to be excited about recent free agency addition
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins have made three signings at defensive tackle so far and although that doesn't mean they've replaced Christian Wilkins, they've got some new faces that will be key moving forward.

One of them is Neville Gallimore, a former Dallas Cowboys' third-round pick whose career has had some ups and downs and it's difficult to know what to expect out of him moving forward.

He's a versatile defensive lineman who's most likely to play as a three-technique but can slide inside as a nose in a pinch. He's somebody you want in your rotation but not necessarily as the guy.

Recently, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about Gallimore's signing with the Dolphins and the coach had some promising thoughts on him.

"I think Neville is really coming into his own," McCarthy told reporters at the annual league meetings earlier this week. "I thought he really finished extremely strong for us."

But McCarthy's words are even more promising because of what he sees ahead of Gallimore and because of why he believes the defensive tackle's development took longer than it should've.

"I think when you go back, I think history will show you, look at the draft class that came into the league during the pandemic, you know?," he added, "Maybe those guys needed maybe a half year more. And I think that Neville's one of those guys. So I think his best football is in front of him."

McCarthy's praise didn't stop there as he revealed he believes Gallimore will quickly become a beloved player inside the locker room, too.

"Everybody has love for Neville," McCarthy concluded. "He's an incredible teammate, has a huge heart, respected in the locker room. So, Miami got themselves a hell of a football player and even a better man."
