NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fully vaccinated, can hug players at NFL Draft

The 2020 NFL Draft was a virtual experience due to the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning both drafted players and fans missed out on their unique interactions with commissioner Roger Goodell. Booing via video calls won't be necessary when this year's draft opens Thursday night, however, as Goodell, some players and thousands of fans will be permitted to attend the player-selection process that will be held in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

On Friday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network that Goodell is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and, thus, will be permitted to hug players at the draft. Clemson Tigers superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence declined an invitation to the draft, meaning BYU Cougars signal-caller Zach Wilson will likely be the first player to greet Goodell on the stage.

Per the NFL's website, 13 to-be rookie players will attend the draft in Cleveland, while another 45 will participate virtually.

"Bro hugs" will be permitted, but interactions will be kept brief. Goodell will not wear a mask or other face-covering on the stage.
