The NFL heads to D.C. in two years.

The NFL announced that the 2027 NFL Draft presented by Bud Light will take place in Washington, D.C.

The Washington Commanders will host in partnership with the league and the local organizing committee.

The 2027 NFL Draft will take place at several D.C. landmarks, including the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue.

President Donald Trump announced the 2027 draft location in the Oval Office alongside NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Commander Owner Josh Harris.

“The NFL Draft has become a marquee event, uniting fans across the country and around the world,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “We are excited to bring the 2027 Draft to Washington, D.C., a city rich in history and national pride. With the support of President Trump, the Commanders, Events DC, and Mayor Bowser we’re looking forward to delivering an unforgettable experience as we celebrate the next generation of NFL stars.”

NFL Draft 2027 Attendance Could Surpass One Million

The NFL Draft is becoming one of the most attended events in the country.

The 2024 NFL Draft holds the record with 775,000 fans. The 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay had more than 600,000 fans in attendance, tying Nashville in 2019 for the second-highest attendance in draft history.

Harris predicted that the 2027 NFL Draft could get over one million people in attendance, which would be a new record for the league. Goodell backed the prediction.

“The NFL Draft is one of the biggest moments in sports — and we’re incredibly proud to help bring it to Washington, D.C.,” said Harris. “It will bring hundreds of thousands of visitors, millions of viewers around the world, and generate jobs, tax revenue, and meaningful economic impact across the city.”

The 2026 NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh on April 23–25.
