NFL Draft analysts regraded the Texans selection of C.J. Stroud in the 2023 NFL Draft

James Foster: A+

"I gave C.J. Stroud an A+, the only A+ in this draft class at least in the first round. He really showed everything you want to see from a franchise QB outside of having pinpoint accuracy. There were still a lot of missed opportunities on tape. Even with that though he is already one of the best QBs in the NFL."

Destin Adams: A+

"I think it's hard not to give Stroud an A+. The Texans knocked it out of the park here. I think Stroud clearly showed his ability on the field, but I think the impact of this pick is even larger than that. The only QB I can compare his ability to come into the building and completely flip the mindset and mentally in the locker room is Joe Burrow with the Cincinnati Bengals. We saw how Burrows competitiveness and overall winning mentality was contagious in that locker room, and it feels like Stroud has had the same affect in Houston."

You can't say enough positive things about the Texans' decision to draft C.J. Stroud with the second pick of last year's draft. Prior to making that pick, the future in Houston looked bleak, with no clear direction as a franchise. And now, not only does the future look bright, but Stroud has the Texans as a true contender in the present. Last year, he helped the Texans win the AFC South and led the team to a playoff win over the Cleveland Browns during the Wildcard round.
