NFL Draft countdown: Focus on Bears' first-round pick at No. 10

Last year, Chicago used a pair of top-10 picks to add quarterback Caleb Williams (No. 1) and wide receiver Rome Odunze (No. 9) to the roster. This year they have the 10th pick with links to these players in various mock drafts.

TE Tyler Warren | Penn State

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards explains that although there’s been conversation about the team adding a wide receiver to go with DJ Moore and Odunze, he believes new head coach Ben Johnson may lean into the run game and play more 12 personnel with tight ends Cole Kmet and Tyler Warren next season.

Only the Patriots threw for fewer yards per game (176.1) than the Bears (181.5) last year, while Kmet had his lowest yardage total since his 2020 rookie season (474).

By contrast, Warren had a school-record 104 catches for a team-high 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns last year while averaging 8.4 yards per carry for 218 yards and four rushing scores.

His best game came in a 33-30 overtime win at USC where he caught 17 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown. Fortunately, Warren won’t need such gaudy numbers to win over Bears fans.

OT Armand Membou | Missouri

Of course, Warren won’t matter if the Bears can’t protect their young quarterback. Williams was sacked a league-high 68 times in 2024, 18 more than Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent took with Chicago in 2023.

The team signed former Falcons center Drew Dalman to a three-year, $42M contract and traded with Kansas City for All-Pro guard Joe Thuney in the offseason. Solid moves, but NFL.com’s Chad Reuter would like to see Membou added to the mix.

“Membou's tenacity as a run blocker and pass protector will warm GM Ryan Poles' heart as a former offensive lineman.” Reuter says, “Membou should be able to compete with Braxton Jones for the left tackle spot as a rookie.”

At 6-foot-3 and 314 pounds, Membou is a bit light compared to the average NFL tackle, but he didn’t allow a sack at right tackle with the Tigers last year, and as a former multi-sport athlete in high school, he displays the quickness and body control teams like to see in an offensive lineman.

OT Will Campbell | LSU

ESPN’s Field Yates is high on Membou as well, but has him landing with the Jets with the No. 7 pick. He rates Campbell as the best offensive lineman in the draft and fifth-best prospect overall. Campbell finished last season as a first-team All-American and shared the SEC Jacobs Blocking Trophy with Texas left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.

With elite foot quickness and pass-protection ability, the Louisiana native could be a perfect fit for the Bears and Johnson’s zone rushing schemes. Campbell gave up a pair of sacks in 2024 but allowed none in 491 pass-blocking snaps as a sophomore.

At 6-foot-6 and 323 pounds, he may be better suited to play tackle than Membou, but Yates believes he can play wherever he’s needed.
