NFL Draft QB prospect takes unnecessary veiled swipe at Eagles star

As we near the first night of the NFL Draft, you'd assume things would be settling into place and dust and smoke might be settling. This time around, nothing could be further than the truth. We've gone from evaluating the top prospects in the class to picking them apart. No one knows what the Philadelphia Eagles will do in the first round, not even the Eagles themselves. That part, however, isn't really surprising.

Right now, everything seems to be on the table. We think Philly will add an edge rusher or offensive lineman, but there's a push for Malaki Starks or a speedy wide receiver. Matthew Golden perhaps?

Philly could trade up if they like someone. They could trade out of Round 1 entirely. Given Howie Roseman's track record, nothing will suyrprise. One thing we thought we wouldn't have to discuss in reference to the Birds would be Cam Ward, yet here we are discussing him.

Heaven help us. Welcome to draft season everyone!

Cam Ward offers Eagles star A.J. Brown a backhanded compliment

May 'The Drama King' D.J. Kay Slay continue to rest in peace, but we imagine he's looking down on Cam Ward and smiling today. One of the intriguing pre-draft conversations has involved this grouping of young signal-callers.

Are the New York Giants drafting Shedeur Sanders or not? What's up with Cam Ward? Might he actually be heading to the Tennessee Titans?

Ward was asked to name his top NFL wide receivers recently. Oh goodness... Those types of discussions typically never lead to positive responses, and Cam's take certainly won't play well in Philadelphia.

Ward names a nice group. We get it. He and Ridley might wind up being teammates, and as a potential QB1, you want to let your teammates know you're willing to go to bat for them.

He still could have given A.J. his flowers without the extra statement. Credit him for speaking his mind, but it appears the young man still has much to learn.

Sure, Ward is a phenomenal talent, but they come a dime a dozen at the professional level. He hasn't proven anything in the National Football League yet. A.J. Brown is an All-Pro and a Super Bowl Champion.

So, here are two pieces of advice. We know they're solicited. We'll offer them anyway. Deal with it.

Respectfully, Mr. Ward... We've seen great QBs at the NCAA level enter the league and flame out, especially in Tennessee. Your first order of business is ensuring you don't become one of them.

Also, though the Titans only play Philly once every four seasons, making the next matchup next year, but we'd advise against giving A.J. Brown added motivation before that game. You might want to check out his resume and a few clips of what happened when he faced the Titans the last time.

But, again... We're assuming Ward lands in Nashville, which, again, isn't a guarantee yet.
