NFL dropped the Eagles' 2025 schedule and it's absolutely loaded with traps

The Philadelphia Eagles are facing one of the more challenging 2025 schedules in the NFL, filled with playoff teams and potential trap games.

According to Warren Sharp, the Eagles have the fourth-toughest schedule in the league, making their Super Bowl defense much harder. Philadelphia has more road games than home games and has only four of its 14 opponents that did not make the playoffs last year.

Winning a Super Bowl is hard, but winning back-to-back championships is even harder. The Eagles will have to do it against some of the best teams. What is more challenging is that they need to beat the teams they are supposed to win, which leads to unnecessary losses that turn the season in a different direction.

4 trap games that could derail the Eagles' 2025 season

Week 1 vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Eagles had an extremely slow start to the 2024 season as they started 2-2 before the bye week helped them turn things around. Since they won the Super Bowl, they get to host the opening game on a shorter week than other teams and do it against their NFC East rivals.

Last year, the Eagles dominated the Cowboys 75-13 to win both matchups. Philadelphia has won three of the last four matchups in the last two years with Dallas.

Despite this being a home game for the Eagles, division games are never easy, and the Cowboys will come motivated and healthier than they were against Philadelphia a season ago. The Eagles must win to avoid a slow start to the season and the NFC East title race.

Week 6 at New York Giants

To set the stage for this first matchup against the Giants, the Eagles have played four playoff teams in the first five games of the year. Philadelphia has to play the Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Los Angeles Rams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Denver Broncos.

This first game against New York is on the road on Thursday night. The Broncos game is going to be a challenge for the Eagles, as they had one of the top defenses in the league last year.

Philadelphia should blow out the Giants on paper, but it's a divisional opponent on the road and on a short week. Wilder things have happened, but the Eagles need to be careful not to let the Giants steal one early in the season.

Week 13 vs. Chicago Bears

The Eagles' Black Friday matchup with the Bears is sandwiched between Philadelphia's road games against the Cowboys in Week 12 and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14. Both teams are considered playoff contenders compared to Chicago, which had a 5-12 season in 2024.

Chicago enters the year with a new head coach, Ben Johnson, and an improved roster. This Bears team started the 2024 campaign 4-2 before collapsing at the end of the year due to poor coaching.

Philadelphia should be in the playoff conversation and might look ahead to other key matchups ahead of the Bears. On a short week, Chicago could pull one over the Eagles and upset them in a game the defending champs can't afford to lose.

Week 15 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

After a long road trip to Los Angeles to play the Chargers on Monday night, the Eagles are on another short week to prepare for a game against the Raiders at home. This game is right before Philadelphia closes the season against the Washington Commanders twice and the Buffalo Bills, with two of those games on the road.

Las Vegas is in total rebuild mode with Pete Carroll taking over as the head coach and Geno Smith starting at quarterback. The Raiders only won four games a season ago and look to be trending in the right direction, but are not expected to be challenging for the AFC West division title.

It's another example of the Eagles needing not to overlook this game and ensure they can pick up the expected wins. A loss like this late in the season would be catastrophic to the hopes of making a legitimate Super Bowl run.
