NFL exec believes Dallas Cowboys could make blockbuster WR trade

The Dallas Cowboys are clearly in need of some roster upgrades after yet another disappointing playoff exit, and a former NFL executive tells the NFL Analysis Network that they may be preparing to make a big splash.

“I do believe the Cowboys are going to pursue Stefon Diggs this offseason,” said the former exec. “In fact, I believe they’re going to get him. The Bills need to make a move with him now and I think a deal gets done before the NFL Draft.”

Trade speculation has been swirling around Diggs since Buffalo was eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs last month.

The star wide receiver had a rather strange 2023 campaign in which he posted five 100-yard performances over his first six games and then did not log a single 100-yard outing again from that point moving forward.

Diggs’ relative disappearance during the second half of the season has raised plenty of questions about his role within the Bills’ offense, not to mention concerns about his relationship with quarterback Josh Allen.

While Diggs has insisted that everything is fine on all fronts, it seemed pretty clear that something was amiss for the 30-year-old throughout the year.

Dallas is in dire need of another receiver behind CeeDee Lamb, as Brandin Cooks was a disappointing signing and Michael Gallup has not been the same since tearing his ACL.

Bringing Diggs into the fold would give the Cowboys arguably the best one-two receiving punch in football and would make Dak Prescott’s job a heck of a lot easier.

Diggs spent the first five years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before being traded to Buffalo in March 2020.

Since then, the University of Maryland product has made four straight trips to the Pro Bowl while also earning a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Dallas went 12-5 this season and ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.
