Russell Wilson’s tenure with the Denver Broncos is drawing to a close, and that appears to be a certainty. However, there is speculation that he could find a new home within the AFC West for the 2024 season.
In a recent conversation with ESPN, several NFL executives, scouts, and personnel experts delved into the most compelling storylines leading up to the offseason. Among these topics was the future of Russell Wilson.
While it’s by no means a foregone conclusion, one league executive suggested to ESPN that Wilson might potentially land with the Las Vegas Raiders.
“[The Raiders] need a vet, and they are one of Wilson’s original teams he wanted to go to. He’d stay in the [AFC West], West Coast, and [Wilson’s wife] Ciara can do a [Las Vegas] residency [as a live performer].”
Even though the Raiders showed promise under Antonio Pierce’s leadership, they encountered challenges when it came to their passing game. If Russell Wilson can rediscover some of the brilliance he displayed during his time in Seattle, he could present an enticing solution for Las Vegas.
On paper, Wilson’s 2023 season appeared efficient, with a completion rate of 66.4 percent, 3,070 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. However, it was evident that he and Broncos head coach Sean Payton were not on the same page.
The Broncos are widely expected to release Wilson during the upcoming offseason, paving the way for his next NFL chapter.
