NFL exec believes the Dallas Cowboys can make George Pickens' attitude problems work and his reasoning makes plenty of sense

The Dallas Cowboys acquiring George Pickens via trade in May has been widely regarded as a positive move for the franchise.

Finally, Dak Prescott will have a WR2 that can consistently win by himself and gain separation. Combine that with a top-tier contested catch ability and the Dallas offense is in a good spot.

But some believe it's too good to be true. If the WR-needy Pittsburgh Steelers were willing to part ways with him, then it must mean the attitude problems everyone is talking about are real and they might even derail the trade and turn it into unnecessary locker room drama.

Well, that is a possibility. You just never know with players who come with character concerns like Pickens does. It's not just the emotional outbursts but the tardiness to meetings and even charter flights.

But an annonymous NFL executive from the AFC recently outlined why Pickens should be easy to "keep in line." In a recent article, ESPN's insider Jeremy Fowler listed the Cowboys' trade for Pickens as one of the moves around the NFL most liked by league scouts, executives and coaches.

"He'll be a big piece there," the AFC personnel told Fowler. "When he's covered, he's really open. I know the concerns are there, but I think having an already established passing game with veterans to help him along, and the fact he's in a contract year, will help keep him in line. If you can tap into what he can do fully, his major ability will shine through."

So far, Pickens has been locked in. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer and quarterback Dak Prescott have praised the newcomer for it. He's been engaged in the meeting room and he's stood out on the practice field.

To the exec's point, CeeDee Lamb has apparently done a great job taking Pickens under his wing. Pickens and Lamb have both told reporters they see themselves as co-ones at wide receiver.

Additionally, there's no denying aiming for a top WR contract is a great motivator. The Cowboys aren't expected to extend Pickens before the season, and Pickens will be doing his all to break some team's free agency bank next year. Not to mention, he's got a franchise to prove wrong after being dealt away.
