NFL Expert Believes Titans Have One of the Worst Player Contracts for 2025
Tennessee Titans tackle Dan Moore Jr. (75) finishes up practice during OTAs at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville, Tenn., Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

An NFL expert has identified the Tennessee Titans’ contract with offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. as one of the worst in the league heading into the 2025 season. The four-year, $82.5 million deal has sparked significant debate, with critics questioning whether Moore’s performance justifies such a substantial investment.

Moore, who started 66 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has struggled to consistently perform at an elite level. In 2024, he allowed 12 sacks and committed five penalties, earning a ranking as the 46th-best tackle by Pro Football Focus. Despite these concerns, the Titans made him the 10th-highest-paid offensive tackle in the league, further fueling skepticism around the deal.

The Titans’ decision reflect a broader trend of struggling teams overpaying in free agency to secure talent. With the No. 1 overall draft pick used on quarterback Cam Ward, Tennessee prioritized shoring up its offensive line. However, analysts argue that Moore’s mixed track record raises doubts about his ability to protect Ward effectively and anchor the line.

Critics have labeled this contract a significant gamble for a franchise looking to rebuild. While the Titans hope Moore can elevate his game and provide much-needed stability, his history suggests that reaching a top-tier level may be a steep challenge. This puts added pressure on Moore to justify his salary and deliver results on the field.

NFL Expert Claims Tennessee Titans Star Dan Moore Jr.’s Contract is One of the Worst in 2025

As it stands, Moore’s contract isn’t really advantegeous for Tennessee. This is detailed more in an analysis by Kristopher Knox for Bleacher Report.

Contract Terms: four years, $82 million with $50 million guaranteed

Last season, Pro Football Focus graded Moore as the league’s 46th-best tackle and credited him for five penalties and 12 sacks allowed. That’s not exactly the sort of pass protection that screams “franchise tackle.”

No, Moore isn’t being paid like a legitimate star lineman, but he’s still being overpaid at $20.5 million annually.

If Moore can improve, the Titans may silence their critics and transform their offense. However, failure to perform could make this deal a cautionary tale of misjudged free-agent spending.

As the 2025 season approaches, Moore’s performance will be closely scrutinized. Whether he becomes a critical piece of Tennessee’s rebuild or a costly misstep will shape the narrative surrounding this controversial contract.
