NFL Fan Base Ripping Colin Cowherd For 2025 Season Prediction

Colin Cowherd doesn't expect a significant San Francisco 49ers rebound in 2025.

Last season, the 49ers followed a Super Bowl appearance by finishing last in the NFC West. They endured several injuries during a 6-11 campaign.

On The Herd, the Fox Sports host predicted the division standings to follow the same order this season. Cowherd expects the Los Angeles Rams to win the NFC West again and the 49ers to finish fourth behind the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.

"I do not like what I see with the Niners," Cowherd said. "I did not like their draft at all. I think when you look at the Niners' draft, I see Kyle Shanahan taking some reaches here to help him and not the future. He wants to win now."

San Francisco fans aren't particularly alarmed by Cowherd's projection. If anything, his pessimism has bolstered their confidence in the 49ers bouncing back.

"Has he seen our schedule?" Ben Wilson asked.

"This won't age well for Colin," a 49ers fan predicted.

"Cool. 49ers winning the West this season," Zachary Grier of 49ers Hub wrote.

"Wow. I thought we'd just have a pretty good year but if Cowherd is saying this, then we’re going to the Super Bowl!" Andrew Kousgaard declared.

Cowherd's prognostication isn't just because he distrusts the 49ers. He said the Seahawks had his favorite draft and declared that the Cardinals could win 10 or 11 games.

However, Vegas still likes the 49ers a lot more than Cowherd. They have the division's highest win total (10.5) and +175 odds to win the NFC West on FanDuel Sportsbook.

According to Warren Sharp, they also have the easiest 2025 schedule based on their opponents' win totals. They face several of last season's worst teams in the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants.

Better health from Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams, and Brandon Aiyuk could steer the 49ers back into contention. Yet Cowherd's prediction isn't too far-fetched considering they also lost Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, and Charvarius Ward this offseason.
