NFL Films takes home Sports Emmy Award for edited event coverage of Chiefs vs. 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

NFL Films continues to be the best for sports coverage.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Fransisco 49ers in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII, going down as one of the most exciting championship games in recent memory. As usual, NFL Films captured all the magic of the big game and was rewarded with the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Edited Event Coverage.

This is the 112th Sports Emmy for NFL Films, an absolutely incredible feat. In the preview shared on X by NFL Films, you can see how they did an excellent job of capturing the triumph of the Chiefs, as well as the heartbreak of the 49ers. They also provide unprecedented sound bites from players and coaches throughout the game.

Among those sound bites is the famous "Tom and Jerry" play that secured the win for the Chiefs, which you can hear quarterback Patrick Mahomes call in the huddle. "Tom and Jerry" was an expansion of the play "Corndog", which K.C. scored a touchdown on the year previous in Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Films worked in plenty of the legendary Mitch Holthus - the play-by-play radio announcer for the Chiefs - who always makes for great commentary. The full documentary will be released later this year and air on NFL Network. It will also be released on DVD.

NFL Films was founded in 1962 by Ed Sabol. They produce popular programs such as "Hard Knocks", "Good Morning Football", and "A Football Life." Their footage is also regularly used on HBO's "Inside the NFL." The Chiefs dynasty run over the last five years has been a big part of many recent works for NFL Films.
