The Cleveland Browns dropped their Week 5 game against the New York Jets, a disappointing loss for them. Quarterback Deshaun Watson and the Browns have been having a solid season and are tied at No. 2 in the AFC North, with the Baltimore Ravens in front.
The Browns are actually going up against the Ravens on Sunday. It's a massive showdown that will, for now at least, show who's really boss of the AFC North.
The Ravens likely won't have franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson on the field, which should help the Browns. But in a separate matter, one Browns star just got some bad news in the form of a fine from the NFL for his actions in the team's game against the Jets.
Every week as the season goes on, the NFL announces punishments in the form of fines, and sometimes even suspensions, for players who break the rules in the previous weekend's games.
On Saturday, the league revealed its full roster of Week 5 fines and punishments. In the announcement, the NFL shared that it's fining Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger $14,899 for unnecessary roughness involving the use of the helmet at 4:27 in the second quarter.
Schwesinger, of course, is a rising star in the NFL. He won the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award for the 2025 season after being selected 33rd overall in the second round of the draft. During his rookie year, he recorded 156 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions.
So, Schwesinger will have to pay up, but it's all part of the game. The money raised from these NFL fines is donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation and the NFL Foundation, so it's for a good cause.
